Introduction
A long time ago, humans have used plant material (leaves, gourds, wood), pottery and glass containers for food use. With recent scientific and technological developments particularly with regard to food preservation, packaging industry has grown steadily to give birth to a myriad of food packaging.
Today, packaging is an essential component for storing, tracking, communication and creation of new food products. It must meet the needs of industrial and technical constraints. Also, it must meet consumer expectations and meet legislative requirements, particularly in terms of safety and environmental protection.
Food packaging and conditioning are two closely related one to another. Indeed, the choice of a packaging process involves choosing a suitable food conditioning and vice versa, and this, to ensure compatibility containment and proper preservation of foodstuffs packed. Thus, packing and conditioning are a transverse process in the food industry which must combine the various company departments.
In this document we will try to present the main packages used in the food industry and the packaging techniques of the most important in this field.
